About the project
To change mindsets and nurture biophilic qualities.

The Nature Society (Singapore) or NSS is a non-government, non-profit organisation dedicated to the appreciation, conservation, study and enjoyment of the natural heritage in Singapore, Malaysia and the surrounding region.

My team and I were tasked to work with NSS to help increase member outreach, volunteer participation rate and organisation engagements.
Problem
There are not many online platforms to educate young children about wildlife conservation, sparking curiosity and allowing them to find ways to contribute.
Solution
To create an interactive Augmented reality App for nature enthusiasts, parents and children to rally and advocate for change.
User research
Identifying the opportunities through insights by affinity mapping. Here's what we've learned:
User personas
Defining and stating users' needs and problems.
My team and I were able to analyse our observations and synthesised them to define the core problems we identified. We narrowed them down to 2 personas to help keep our efforts human-centred.
Sketches
Creating solutions.
This was an experimental phase for my team and I. Our aim was to identify the best solution for each of our problems found. We eventually created scaled-down versions and further ideated on them.

Wireframing &
Prototyping
Bringing our solutions to life.
Through wireframing and prototyping, my team and I were trying to investigate on the ideas that we've generated. From sketches to mid-fidelity to high-fidelity prototypes, we managed to take a step back and relook at our idea at every stage of development.

Usability Testing
Trying our solutions out.
Our goal was to redefine one or more further problems. Through usability testings, we eventually went back to our previous stages to make further iterations, alterations and refinements. That led us to find out or rule out alternative solutions.

Takeaways
Balancing pace and perfection
As it was a fast-paced project, there was a need to strike the balance between speeding up towards the deadline and also taking care of the important details.

Receiving feedback and iterating
Constantly engaging with the team and mentors to receive feedback on the approach, constraints, limitations or requirements to iterate or revise the components to build the design system.
